Mantras for the New Year:
New year, new beginnings. Through yoga, I welcome peace, harmony, and joy. Anon.
With each breath and each pose, I step into the new year grounded, open, and aligned—choosing peace, harmony, and joy. Anon.
“You have power over your mind, not outside events. Realise this, and you will find strength.” Marcus Aurelius
As we step into this season of new beginnings, I invite us all to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with what truly matters. Each transition invites us to slow down, listen more closely, and realign with the natural rhythms within and around us.
Yoga offers us a gentle reminder that every moment is a chance to begin again. Through mindful movement and conscious breath, we create space for peace within, restore harmony in body and mind, and rediscover simple, nourishing joy.
We should endeavour to move consciously through this seasonal change through breath, movement, and stillness. We should try to cultivate peace in moments of uncertainty, harmony as we adapt, and joy in the simple act of being present. Just as the earth releases and renews, we too are invited to let go of what no longer serves and make room for new beginnings.
“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.” – Lao Tzu
This is a time to set intentions rather than expectations—to move with kindness, listen inward, and honour where we are right now. Whether your practice is strong and flowing or quiet and still, it all belongs and will lead us to soften expectations and deepen awareness—to nourish the nervous system, ground the body, and reconnect with our inner guide and spirit.
“Yoga does not transform the way we see things; it transforms the person who sees.” – B.K.S. Iyengar
When yoga returns on Monday, January 5th, classes and practices will focus on grounding, balance, renewal, ease, alignment, and a deep sense of well-being. Working to develop a sense of belonging, inner clarity, inner connection, and peace, supporting all of us as we step forward with clarity and openness, restoration, and gentle expansion, as we begin our transition into the New Year with grace and intention.
With gratitude and light,
Namaste
Sue xx
