New life springing forth
Have you noticed all the buds on the bushes and trees and flowers coming into bloom? New life springing forth brings with it a reminder that spring is about new beginnings and growth even though the garden and landscape still for the most part look as if it is still ending with bare branches and flowers that are still sleeping. But underneath it all is the new start!
There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning. Louis Dearborn L’Amour
It is the same with our life as often times we feel there are endings and those endings are final and very painful –but in fact as Lau Tzu points out
New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.
Jon Kabat Zinn points out that we are not the pain or suffering, we are not the event that caused the pain but that deep within us is our intrinsic wholeness to which we can connect at any time, not unlike that way roots of the plants, trees and bushes are deep inside the earth:
“No matter how many scars we carry from what we have gone through and suffered in the past, our intrinsic wholeness is still here: what else contains the scars? None of us has to be a helpless victim of what was done to us or what was not done for us in the past, nor do we have to be helpless in the face of what we may be suffering now. We are also what was present before the scarring—our original wholeness, what was born whole. And we can reconnect with that intrinsic wholeness at any time, because its very nature is that it is always present. It is who we truly are.”
― Jon Kabat-Zinn, Full Catastrophe Living (Revised Edition): Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain, and Illness
As we continue to work with the Virabhadrasana (Warrior) Series we begin to build the necessary strength of body to support working towards strength of mind where through that strength of mind we connect to the whole of our being and our wholeness of being.
Happy Growing!
Namaste
