π AUTUMN EQUINOX π
Balance & Grounding on the Mat This September
πΎ As the nights and days settle into perfect balance around September 22nd, our classes this month are turning toward two gentle themes: finding equilibrium in body and mind, and growing sturdy roots against that restless, blustery autumn energy. Hereβs a peek at what weβll be exploring together.
βοΈ THEME ONE: BALANCE
Equal Light, Equal Dark
Sthiram & Sukham β Steadiness and Ease
The equinox reminds us that effort and ease can share the same moment. In these two classes, weβll work with standing balance poses β Tree, Warrior II, Warrior III β always asking: where can I soften a little, without losing my footing? A lovely theme for anyone feeling pulled between doing too much and resting too little.
π³ THEME TWO: GROUNDING & ROOTING
Rooted Like an Oak
Calming Restless Autumn Energy
As the wind picks up and the leaves let go, itβs easy for our own energy to feel scattered too β what Ayurveda calls a predominance of vata energy. These slower, lower classes lean on wide, steady standing poses and generously supported floor work, with longer holds and longer exhales, to help settle a busy mind and a possible wind-blown week.
π§ WHAT WE WILL USE FOR SUPPORT: (There are plenty of bolsters and cushions at Greasby Centre, but do please bring your own for the Wednesday class at Hoylake)
π A blanket or two β for extra warmth and support as the weather cools
π A bolster or firm cushion β used throughout the grounding classes for supported rest
π An open mind β for a slower pace and longer holds than usual this month
π―οΈ A GENTLE THOUGHT
Whichever class finds you this month, see if you can carry a little of its theme home with you β a moment of balance between effort and ease, or a breath spent imagining roots growing quietly beneath you. See you on the mat!
With warmth and light,
Shanti Om
Sue π
