Namaste all,
Yoga Monday 16th Oct click link to view reel.
Working with gratitude has been the focus point for sessions the past week and we will continue working with this theme for the next few sessions to remind ourselves that we have a working body and mind, we are still in the adventure and trying to work with our minds rather than against them.
The mind is always trying to make sense of our experiences and draws on past experiences to help but often that is not always helpful therefore rather than trying to control the mind we should work more towards understanding the mind and how it is working.
We cannot stop the mind from thinking but we can work with it and use the practices of yoga such as conscious breathing (pranayama), moving to release tension in the body (asana), focussing and learning to concentrate despite the habitual patterns of the mind (Dharana - concentration, focus, willpower) and with continued practice learn that the mind can continue to process but we do not have to be involved but rather stay focussed where we have placed our attention (Dhyana - meditation)
And, always be grateful for the mind, befriending it and steadily, each day, working mindfully and with kindness to connect deeply with how your mind works and in that way deepening life experiences and understanding - always of course, with gratitude.
Shanti Om
