Namaste all,
A reminder that yoga at Greasby will be taking a break over the summer holidays.
Monday 22nd July is the last class until we resume again on Monday 2nd September.
Connecting to Stillness
Tomorrow’s session at 11.15a.m. will be a journey through gentle asana, moving with the breath, to relax and restore the body and mind in readiness for the summer, which isn’t always as relaxing as one might hope, therefore, moving with the breath in asana, connecting to the feedback from body, mind, nervous system and the heart space will help to set up the breathing space, the connection within and the stillness that can be found there needed for holidays when possibly entertaining children and grandchildren, preparing to travel, meeting and greeting friends and family, make life fun but hectic. Through moving gently with awareness and making space to BE when life becomes busy and unexpected allows us to come home to our inner self, to our true nature and being and restore balance.
“As our work with asanas becomes more refined, we redirect our awareness to the stillness that is in between, inside, and throughout all movement. ..... In later stages this stillness becomes omnipresent. This experience of stillness within the movement can happen anytime we become completely merged with the movement itself. This is not an experience we can make happen but one that happens through sustained practice and through grace. Eventually, we are not only aware of stillness, we ARE stillness. .....Coming home to the body through asana can be a joyous reunion...”Advanced” practice is any movement that brings us closer to this recognition of our true Self. “ Donna Farhi, Bringing Yoga to Life, Chp 8.
See you tomorrow and sending wishes for a peaceful, happy and relaxing summer.
Shanti Om
