Namaste all,
Yoga at Greasby Centre will return on Monday 4th September at the usual time of 11.15a.m. where we will explore being mindful about moving the body with the breath.
The breath during asana movement assists in calming the nervous system so that we can remain steady in a posture and keep the mind focussed. When the mind is focussed we can concentrate on keeping good alignment and staying longer in a pose using the breath as our anchor to keep the mind within the body.
In the words of Patanjali
“Where the mind goes, the breath follows”
Therefore, as best we can, we use the exhale to calm and focus and the inhale to energise and move and both to maintain our connection to body and mind.
By taking conscious control of your breathing, you harness your thoughts, energy, and body.
Dan Brule, Just Breathe: Mastering Breathwork for Success in Life
As we know this is not always an easy task but then yoga is always a work in progress and a journey not a destination as we continuously seek to deepen our connection to our inner Self!
The breath is the anchor that creates those moments of connection!
Capture that perfect wave moment; rise to the occasion and breathe in those good vibes. Linda Wickens
I hope you are looking forward to working with the breath and asana that is not too demanding for the first session back after the summer break!
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Apologies in advance for this but there will not be a class on Monday 11th September as I will be away in Nice for a birthday celebration. The class will however return the following Monday 18th and there will be NO FURTHER interruptions after that - well except for Christmas! AND on a positive note, I will record a class for you to view on YouTube until the following Monday 18th!
Looking forward to seeing you on the 4th!
Shanti Om
