Do feel free to bring your own mat, block and blanket but there are plenty of spares at the centre.
Whatever the focus of the practice we should never lose sight of the fact that yoga is more than just asana (the postures), it has many levels and they all start from the same place which is practising Ahimsa!
Ahimsa is the first of the yamas which make up the 8 limbs of yoga according to the sage and yoga teacher, Patajali.
Ahimsa means do no harm so by extension, be kind! Always, be kind as everything else stems from kindness and that kindness starts with the Self, offering kindness to the Self always, first and foremost and, the more we practice offering kindness to the Self, the easier it is to offer it to all others!
Listen deeply to the feedback from your whole being and make peace with whatever and wherever your whole being can BE in any posture, with the breath and during relaxation practices, in any moment with deep respect and gratitude that your whole being can always do something, perhaps not everything the mind thinks it should be do but rather whatever the whole being can manage!
“The yoga pose is not the goal. Becoming flexible is not the goal. Standing on your hands is not the goal. The goal is serenity. Balance. Truly finding peace in your own skin.”
Rachel Brathen
Breathe, listen and, respond accordingly to all of your being throughout any practice, the body, breath, mind, wisdom body (the gut) and heart centre (centre of the chest) our place of kindness, compassion and non-judgement. Above all things, offer those to yourself daily!
Shanti Om (peace)
